Why Brahmsutra?

सम दोष समाग्निश्च सम धातु मल क्रियाः | प्रसन्न आत्मेन्द्रिय मन: स्वस्थ इत्यभिधीयते || -- आचार्य सुश्रुत

As per Acharya Sushruta (Ayurveda) when the doshas (humors) are in a balanced state, when the digestive fire is balanced and is working properly, when all the dhatus(tissues) are balanced and are in a good state, when all the waste materials are being formed and excreted properly, when the mind (mana), the sense organs (indriyas), and the person’s soul (atma) is happy (prasanna), then only the person is termed as “healthy”.
WHO’s definition of health also supports the Ayurevdic view. As per WHO: “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
Ayurveda has known the importance of Pscychotherapy since its inception. That is why; Acharya Charak has described three types of Chikitsa:

TRIVIDH CHIKITSA:

1. DaivavyapashrayaChikitsa (Divine Therapy) -non-pharmacological
2. SatvavajayaChikitsa (Psychotherapy) - non-pharmacological
3. YuktivyapashrayaChikitsa (Rational Therapy) – pharmacological
